Nature's Fibre Artists (not for those with Arachnaphobia)

I have spent the morning trying to get a good photo of the many spiders in my back garden.

The garden and the house seem to be full of them this year. I think there are more than usual. My mum insists spiders are lucky, not just the money ones, and it very bad luck to kill one. So I spend quite a bit of time trying to gently remove them from my house to the garden.

I have had a few online discussions about whether photography is a craft, but in this case I would definitely argue that these are fibre artists.  I hope they inspire you, particularly if you are into weaving or spinning!

I am also linky to Saturday Snapshot at At Home With Books.

Flower Power

We were driving through our part of London, when I almost had to bring the car to a screeching halt. In the midst of the rather urban landscape there was this beautiful meadow of flowers. It was like a splash of a rainbow.

I have to say that my photographs do not really do justice to the flowers. Still getting to grips with my new camera. I also had a rather grumpy teenage boy in tow, who was definitely not impressed by all that "flower power". I may try to go back on my own later this week, although it will have to be soon as there is a bit of a chill in the air.

The banner at the top of my page is one of the photos I was really pleased with. The meadow is called Pesthouse Common, near Richmond. I am going to use some of the other shots in my top banner, which I take a lot of pleasure in changing and trying to keep seasonal. I can't wait for some lovely autumn coloured leaves, which must be just around the corner.

On The Tow Path

I'm not really sure what to put on this week, as I have been away.  I have a few knitting ideas, but they are still just in my head. Sorry about my lack of comments last week, but I was struggling with my son on our canal holiday to get my hands on my husband's phone, and then we kept going out of range.

So here are just a few nice photos that I took when walking along the towpath. I have been assured that photography is a craft. I'd love to be able to label some of them, especially the strangely beautiful growths on a wooden bridge. Are they lichens?

I'm going to get back on track for next week, although as my mother is coming to visit, so I'm not quite sure how that will work out. Happy crafting.

Stop Posting Nature Photographs This is Meant to Be a Craft Blog

I'm not quite sure what's got into me. I went to the park today, and the approaching thunderstorm looked great, as well as this huge tree. Then after a shower of rain I started taking photos of the plants in my back garden. Since they announced we're in a drought it doesn't seem to have stopped raining. But I am definitely going to stop posting photos, and put on something crafty next.

Week in Devon

We have been away for the week in Devon. We had a lovely week, with mainly great spring weather. Although we were in the south of Devon, we kept gravitating towards Dartmoor. I'm just going to put on a few of my favourite photos.  I failed to take one that would do justice to the many banks of primroses we saw.

Both of these photos were taken near Buckland Abbey, where big one found the sheep skull in a field, which he has added to his collection.

I have not done much crafting this week.  Helped little one make an outfit for Bongo the Monkey.
